Department of Indigenous affairs (WA

Facilitate workshops focussing on nine units of competency from the National Competency Standards for Project Management. These units of competency are in line with the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) adopted by both the Project Management Institute (USA) and the Australian Institute of Project Management. The training solution was designed to address their needs (DIA) and included a one day Fundamentals and Best Practice MS Project 2007 workshop.

Royal Automobile Club Insurance (RACI) WA

Review existing RACI project management policies, procedures, processes, tools, templates and conduct gap analysis of RACI’s project management procedures (based on PRINCE2 methodology).

  • Validate that the current framework meets the needs of stated business goals and objectives
  • Examine project delivery principles, procedures, systems, standard forms and templates
  • Examine compliance audit and assurance processes (re project management)
  • Examine the relevant processes required to provide information to corporate/executive bodies about projects and programs
  • Examine the internal review and approval processes designed to establish limits of authority in regard to project delivery
  • Examine processes for approving project initiation
  • Map processes and capture any software utilisation/requirements

Lotterywest - Perth, Australia

Master Project:

Lotterywest (formally known as Lotteries Commission) embarked on a journey to rejuvenate, strengthen and broaden its brand presence and brand value in Western Australia. The project involved:

  • Promotion of new retail identity to retailers (client interface/change management
  • Design development
  • Interpretation of the components into the retail network
  • Stakeholder management
  • Maintain brand integrity
  • Bid evaluation
  • Contract establishment
  • Contract management
  • Quality management
  • Communication management

Achievements:

  • 220 outlets completed and a further 70 outlets approved for manufacture and installation.
  • Staff training in Project Management Fundamentals and Microsoft Project.
  • Setting up of project management office inclusive of staff, processes and procedures.

Sub Project:

A sub project (front end) was initiated to assist retailers obtain the appropriate PC equipment, internet access, and training to optimise the current and future opportunities of communicating with Lotterywest. It included an investigation of the current level of computer literacy and ownership in the network, arranging training (if necessary) and facilitating the supply of PC equipment and access to the Internet. A ‘table’ of appropriate items/purchases to assist the retailers to access the internet was a project output.

APMM Group - Perth, Australia

Training and consultancy in:

  • Project Management;
  • Maintenance Management; and
  • Tender Preparation.
Wickham Club - Wickham, Western Australia

The project involved changing an existing ‘tired’ venue into a place suitable and welcoming for families. The venue also is to cater for functions, seminars and executive dining.

Key aspects:

  • catering for new smoking regulations;
  • changing venue to a family friendly establishment;
  • establishing objectives, constraints, assumptions and risk factors; and
  • managing key stake holders, project organisational structure, communications, key activities and deliverable’s.
Wickham - Western Australia

The project involved the initiation of maintenance contract with Robe River Iron Associates (Rio Tinto Company). The contract encompassed the town sites of Wickham and Pannawonica.

Achievements:

The contract was enlarged to encompass the processing and loading facility at Cape Lambert. At his further instigation the regional office and workshop facilities were upgraded in line with the corporate image.

Abtech Systems - San Diego, California, USA

The project involved the research and instigation of corrective measures on a residential construction project, encompassing: managing the design process, establishing objectives, constraints, assumptions and risk factors, managing key stake holders, project organisational structure, communications, key activities and deliverable’s.

Achievements:

The project completed on time on budget.

Abtech Systems - Australia

Also worked with Abtech Systems Inc, USA, introducing them to clients in the Melbourne and Sydney areas. This process involved initiating (cold calling) and managing a database (DOS based) and on occasion installing memory upgrades to HP 3000 Series boxes. Achievements:

Successfully created a database of clients still in use today.

Agency re imaging - NSW, Australia

Managed client in regard to the creation of the product catalogue and liaison with factory personnel to ensure quality of product inclusive of assembly and transport.

Achievements:

70 outlets secured and refurbished.

Lonsdale - London, UK (Carnaby Street)

Managed the process of completing the project involving innovative fast tracking of construction works.Conducted work breakdown structures, resulting in economical packaging of contractors’ works and compiled programs, resulting in efficient use of labour. I also initiated safety protocols through the company appointed safety consultant (IRPC).

Mary Feilding Guild - London, UK (Aged care facility)

Managed the process of securing of the project (elderly persons care home) involving bid preparation, and pre-contract planning, then managed the project to completion. Conducted work breakdown structures, resulting in economical packaging of contractors works. Compiled programmes, resulting in efficient use of labour and completing projects on time. I also initiated safety protocols through the company appointed safety consultant (IRPC).

Australian Starter Culture Research Centre

Managed a feasibility study: This project included the relocation of the Australian Starter Culture Research Centre, which took into account: the consolidation of various isolated components, the environment, the corporate image, the construction cost, and the time line.

Achievements:

As a direct result of the feasibility study, the project was successful in receiving funding from the ‘Board’.

National property re branding, Australia

Managed the project time line, established budget, managed the creation of the audit program including training of auditors and established installation program.

Achievements:

The successful implementation of the national upgrade of property branding.

Health Care, Australia

Managed projects have included managing the design and construction of consulting rooms for specialist surgeons, and the establishment of General Practices. This involved budget control, engaging architects and designers, managing the design process, defining work schedules, obtaining permits and quotations and managing construction/installation.

Asset Management, Australia

Assets managed: 13 office buildings in the Melbourne CBD. This involved identifying problems and solutions, ensuring the buildings conformed to regulations and costing/managing rectifications. Responsibilities included organising and chairing tenant meetings to ensure a smooth and consistent customer relation policy. Further responsibilities: the organisation of regular maintenance surveys to ensure early detection of rectification work to ensure the continued value of the assets.
